Growing tips:
It is important to plant your corn according to the grid for effective pollination as corn is wind pollinated.
The cob can be picked earlier – at the milk stage and cooked as corn on the cob. They are relatively sweet. The colours at the milk stage will not be fully developed. To test for milk stage: pull the husk back slightly and stick your nail into a soft kernel. If a milky liquid comes out, then it is ready.
Linda says – the husks (leaves surrounding corn cobb) can be used as wrappers to cook other foods in them, baked or steamed.
