Squash
Squashes are like pumpkins best planted from August to October, three pods 2cm deep in a small circle, with wide spacing of 1,5m between the circles (with the exception of some marrows that grow into upright bushes, spacing 90cm x 90cm).� Marrows are delicious as flowers, as baby fruits, green or as fully grown fruit.
- Zucchetti produces green longish shaped marrows.� It is of the bush type and of Swiss organic origin.
- Waltham butternuts grow into wide ranking plants. A traditional South African pear shaped squash.
- Rolet Gem is a favourite South African squash producing lots of small, round dark green fruits.
- Hubbart is traditional South African and produces heavy, rough skinned green or yellow squashes.
